News to read
- A new must-read for WASH professionals: The United Nations' System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation
- The Report «Water for Shared Prosperity» by the World Bank explores the connection between water, economic growth, and shared prosperity
- The latest Newsletter from the SDC Office in Lima highlights the 2024 Water Week in Peru under the motto «United for Water»
- El Agua nos Une in collaboration with the Pacific Alliance Business Council conducted a study on reclaimed water for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC); its publication «Reúso y recirculación del agua: Un estudio integral en América Latina» is available in Spanish
- In the Political Guidelines 2024-2029, the European Commisson (EU) states its ambition to take action for food security, water and nature, pleading for a new European Water Resilience Strategy (see p. 21-22)
- WASH emergencies in conflict areas are in the rise, being exacerbated by heat waves, as reported by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) from the Syrian camp Al Hol, and from Occupied Palestinian Territories. The Secretary General released a global Call to Action on Extreme Heat, highlighting the transversal role of access to water for crisis response.
- The latest issue of WASH for Development Journal features an article on Scaling up the practice of water operators’ partnership and its linkages with investment programmes
- Based on a research conducted in Ghana, the International Water Management Institute IWMI developed a guidance for socially and gender-inclusive policies for landscape and water
- The IWRM Action Hub helps finding relevant documentation for operations related to IWRM, for example indicating guidance for WASH business models in the field of climate finance
